The Internet has brought about a huge scope for small businesses and with its help everybody who has even the tiniest entrepreneurial streak can succeed in establishing themselves as e-entrepreneurs. So, what does it take to promote business growth? Check out the following few things for inspiration and guidance:

1. Have a plan – nothing can succeed or move ahead if it does not have a concrete plan. A business, in order to succeed, needs a detailed plan of action and growth. The projection of its business along with realistically set goals could be used for enlisting financial assistance from banks and other similar institutions. However, in order to obtain a loan the business plan should be impeccably drawn out with realistic phases and activities.

2. Have a budget – before you launch your business and during the running and establishment of your business, you would need to work out a budget. There should be two separate categories, (i) one time investment (such as equipment, building, etc) and (ii) recurring expenses (such as maintenance of website, electricity, etc). You would need to work out the source of income to support the expenses of the business accordingly. The plan should ideally be drawn for the first five years and the business growth should show a minimum 15-25 per cent growth to be considered healthy.

3. Strategy to establish your market niche – you would need to research in whatever field your business is ensconced and find out where exactly you could excel. You need to have at least one point from where you could be the best there is in the market. On this perfection point you would be able to establish yourself a niche. Until and unless you discover or create this niche, it would be difficult for you to achieve an optimum business growth.

4. Networking – whether your business is launched online or offline networking remains a very important aspect of business growth. Online networking with like minded business and creating reciprocal links improves the rank of the website; while offline networking can be an excellent win-win business promotion among peer business entities.

5. Performance assessment – it does not matter how successful you think your business is and how much profit it is grossing, there is always room for improvement and for growth. Stagnation is any field means death. Hence, you would need to perform a regular – preferably quarterly – performance assessment and see whether you are on the right track; whether you still have your goals in direct focus; whether there are areas that could work better/ faster/ further; whether you could add or remove anything to improve efficiency and so on.

Business growth is a very complex process and it needs your full attention and commitment. It is very true that luck is directly proportionate with hard work. You would be surprised to see how many good things “happen” when you work hard and with full determination to succeed. One you believe you can, there is indeed very little that can change that belief. Business growth can only be achieved with complete coordination between your planning and hard work.
